Overview

Disseminate Consumer Affairs literature, materials and answers questions from the public and municipalities. The Division of Consumer Affairs, under the Department of Law and Public Safety, is charged with protecting the people of the state of New Jersey from fraud, deceit, and a wide variety of professional misconduct. The Division is responsible for enforcing laws designed to ensure the fairness and integrity in New Jersey’s commercial and investment marketplaces, supervising New Jersey charities, and for assisting consumers with complaints or questions about particular professionals, businesses, vendors, or service providers. The Division supports 51 professional and occupational boards and committees that license over 700,000 individuals in approximately 100 professions.
